Dee debut for Adam ends in a draw at Dens

-

Dundee handed a home debut to former Scotland midfielder Charlie Adam and also included onetime Hearts and Dundee United striker Osman Sow as a trialist against Cove Rangers. However, the duo were not on the winning side as the contest ended 1-1.

The Dark Blues, who had won 1-0 at Cove on Tuesday, lost Finlay Robertson to injury after only three minutes however they handled that set-back with Adam’s shot striking a post 11 minutes later.

Jordan Mcghee and Sow had headers saved by Stuart Mckenzie with the visiting shot-stopper also denying Graham Dorrans before the first half ended with a blank scoreline.

Cove opened the scoring on 50 minutes when Seb Ross forced home a Broque Watson corner, but their advantage lasted only 13 minutes.

Max Anderson’s run and cross created danger and Ryan Strachan headed into his own goal under pressure from Paul Mcgowan.

Dorrans came close to hitting a winner when he fired in a 30-yard shot which went inches wide.

Dunfermline came out on top in their derby clash at East Fife with Kevin O’hara’s early strike earning the Pars a 1-0 success.

New loan recruit Fraser Murray set up the winner on three minutes when he cut the ball back to O’hara who sent a low shot past keeper Brett Long.

East Fife claimed loudly for a penalty before the break when a Chris Higgins header looked to be handled but their appeals went unheeded and no spotkick was awarded.

A Kyle Turner effort following a corner that struck the bar was the closest either side came to a goal after the break.

Airdrie enjoyed a 1-0 success over visitors Queen of the South with Ally Roy’s strike proving decisive.

Roy netted after nine minutes when he latched onto a Dale Carrick pass and sent a shot flashing past Rohan Ferguson.

Aidan Fitzpatrick shot against the woodwork and Stephen Dobbie failed to capitalise on a late mix-up in the home defence as the Dumfries side went chasing an equaliser.

Falkirk striker Aidan Keena scored in the last minute to complete a hat-trick as the Bairns saw off visitors Ayr United 3-2.

Luke Mccowan fired in a rebound to put Ayr ahead a minute into the restart with Keena quickly replying from the penalty spot.

The former Hearts forward cracked the Bairns in front before Michael Hewitt’s wellstruck drive 10 minutes from time tied the score again, only for Keena to tap in an Akeel Francis cross.
