Loan Ranger’s vision can help Pars progress

- By Iain Collin SPORT@SUNDAYPOST.COM

St e v i e Crawford has urged his Premiership loan trio to mix arrogance with respect at Dunfermline.

The Pars have this week snapped up Rangers defender Lewis Mayo, midfielder Kerr Mcinroy from Celtic and Hibs attacker Fraser Murray.

The Fi f e r s boss is thrilled to have added top- flight quality to his revamped squad as they try to piece together a challenge to overwhelming Championship favourites Hearts.

And he is hopeful the East End Park outfit will benefit from the threesome’s desire to prove themselves to their parent clubs.

He said: “There is nothing wrong in having confidence in your own ability.

“But there is a fine line between confidence and being too arrogant.

“I think to play at a club like Dunfermline and then kick on and play in the highest league, you do have to have a certain amount of arrogance – but in a respectful manner that you want to be the best player.

“As well as being the best player, you also want to be a team player and the players that do that best tend to have a good career in the game.

“I am sure they will bring that side of things to the club as well.

“It will be something that our younger players – and maybe some of our players who have not been fortunate enough to play at the top level and who want to get there – can pick up from the boys that we have brought in.”

The highly- rated Mayo, who recently signed a new deal to keep him at Rangers until 2023, caught the eye of Crawford during a short loan stint with Partick Thistle last season.

And the Pars boss is happy to give the Scotland Under- 21 cap a platform to continue developing his game.

He added: “Lewis has a vision of the way he wants his career to go.

“He thought that Dunfermline was going to allow him to educate and develop his game.”
