WILLIAM HILL SCOTTISH CUP

-

BRECHIN 2 LINLITHGOW ROSE 3

East of Scotland side Linlithgow Rose created an upset by dumping Brechin City out of the Scottish Cup following a 3-2 win at Glebe Park.

City grabbed the opener in the 14th minute when Rory Currie drilled home a low drive, but the visitors fought back and equalised on 34 minutes when Tommy Coyne headed home.

Brechin regained the advantage six minutes into the second half when Kieran Inglis slotted the ball in from close range.

Rose again drew level in the 71st minute when Ruari Maclennan forced the ball home after home goalie Paddy O’neil blundered.

Linlithgow deservedly scored the winner just a minute later with a superb goal from fullback Scott Stevenson, who blasted home a leftfoot drive into the top corner of the net.

TRANENT 4 EAST STIRLINGSHIRE 1

Tranent dominated the game and went ahead after four minutes when Adam Watson slotted home.

In the 17th minute, they were two ahead when Kayne Paterson turned the ball in from six yards. Worse was to follow in the 28th minute when the home side went 3-0 up through Richard Miller’s 12-yarder.

Just on half-time, Tranent were four up when Lewis Hawkins finished off a corner.

Shire tried to get back in the second half, but all they had to show was a Jamie Dishington rocket into the top corner on 52 minutes.

LOTHIAN TH HV 0 BANKS O’ DEE 3

Banks O’ Dee should have gone ahead after 18 minutes from a penalty, but Jamie Buglass saw his spot-kick saved by the Thistle stopper.

Buglass made amends in the 68th minute when he put his side in front from 12 yards.

After both teams were reduced to 10 men, the north side went two up in the 87th minute with a Robert Armstrong goal. Sub Chris Beattie then got his debut goal late on.

CAMELON 0 BRORA RANGERS 0

(Match abandoned in second half ) Torrential rain and a gale-force wind saw the match abandoned in the second half despite the efforts of the home club to get the pitch ready.

A club spokesman said: “The referee and managers agreed the match should be abandoned because of the relentless rain.” The Bonnyrigg Rose v Bo’ness United tie was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
