18 more deaths but positive tests fall
Scotland has recorded 18 deaths from coronavirus and 525 positive tests in the past 24 hours, the Scottish Government has said.
The total number of deaths – victims who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – now stands at 7,129.
The figures show 201,512 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 in Scotland, up from 200,987 the previous day.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde recorded 151 cases, along with 106 in
Lothian and 89 cases in Lanarkshire. The daily test positivity rate is 3.1%, down from 3.3% the previous day.
The World Health Authority regards a positivity rate of less than 5% as indicating the virus is declining.
The latest UK Government data reveals that of the 20,450,858 vaccination jags given in the United Kingdom so far, 19,682,048 were first doses – a rise of 504,493 on the previous day, while 768,810 were second doses, an increase of 32,773.
