Old pix? I’ll mullet over

-

I’m sure we’ve all unearthed a few forgotten treasures from the back of a cupboard, but I doubt many have found anything so spectacular as the photographs of old Edinburgh recently discovered inside a shoebox. Taken by Robert Blomfield between

1957 and 1966, the black and white snapshots lay hidden until recently, when his family discovered the cache and shared them with the world. Having lived in the capital as student, I found the images breathtaking and nostalgic, and loved trying to figure out where in the city’s cobbled streets they were taken. It also made me wonder what people might think of my old family albums if they were discovered in 50 years’ time. I reckon those with the mullet and tartan-trimmed flares from my Bay City Rollers days would raise a few eyebrows…

AC/DC today: Cliff Williams, Phil Rudd, Angus Young, Brian Johnson and Stevie Young
