The Sunday Post (Inverness)

Make it a Fab day today

Paul Nicholls’ Mcfabulous takes in the National Spirit Hurdle at Fontwell this afternoon with the Stayer’s Hurdle at Cheltenham looming. Today’s Grade 2 is run over two miles, three furlongs, and that may turn out to be the sevenyear-old’s ideal trip based on his last run. Despite a couple of sketchy jumps at Kempton in the Relkeel Hurdle, Mcfabulous recovered and cosily brushed aside On The Blind Side. Grangeclare Glory did remarkably well to finish six-lengths third to Lunar Sovereign at Doncaster last month over two miles.

The lightly raced sixyear-old is bred to go much further and he was having his second run inside two weeks but has been freshened up since. After only four visits to the racecourse, David Pipe can expect to see big improvement from his runner by staying sire Fame And Glory. Fantastikas has been second five times out of six in his brief career and it’s early enough to write this six-year-old off as a tail-biter.

Last time, he was beaten three-quartersof-a-length by Barbados Buck’s, and that winner has gone in again since plus has an Albert Bartlett entry.
