Canal jam now cleared

The shipping jam that blocked the Suez Canal for 11 days has finally ended.

Authorities in Egypt said yesterday the last ships stranded by the giant container vessel that was stuck in the canal have now passed through the waterway.

More than 400 vessels were left waiting at either end when the 400m-long Ever Given became wedged across it on March 23.

Officials are investigating the incident and expect to make their findings public within a few days.
