We’d have more fun if we stopped caring what others think

- EDITOR, JAYNE SAVVA JSAVVA@DCTMEDIA.CO.UK

There comes a time in every woman’s life when you decide to stop caring about what people think of you and simply please yourself. For actress Sally Lindsay, that moment came during lockdown.as the world ground to a halt, Sally decided to say yes to every opportunity that came her way and she says it has been liberating.

Sally is, of course, best known for her role as Corrie barmaid Shelley and numerous other successful TV shows. But over the last 12 months she has taken on projects she’d never have thought herself capable of before the pandemic.and she admits the only thing holding her back before was her fear of being judged.

She tells us on pages 6&7: “I decided if I wanted to do a game show, I’ll do a game show, and if I wanted to do a drama, I’ll do a drama. It’s fine, no one is going to care – and they don’t!”

Realising this basic truth is like having a super power. Just think how much easier life would be if you didn’t give two hoots about what others thought of you?

That’s not to say you should disregard how your actions and words may negatively impact others. But if you are doing no harm to anyone else, then it’s OK to put yourself first.

I like to think there will be a general air of “anything goes” when lockdown finally lifts.

After the constraints and confinement of the last 12 months, most of us are desperate to take back control of our lives.

There has never been a better excuse to let loose and do more of what makes us happy. God knows, we’ve earned it.

Happy Easter everyone!
