Garden of the week
The estate surrounding Newhailes House in Musselburgh is filled with daffodils in spring.
The gem-encrusted shell grotto is a survivor from the 18th Century and the gardens are in the process of being restored, bringing the flower and vegetable gardens back into production and reviving historical features including a ha-ha, a sunken wall that provides unbroken views over the surrounding countryside.
