Upandatit is set to up and do it

- By Reg Moore sport@sundaypost.com

Upandatit provided a clear-and-loud indication that he’s getting the hang of the racing game at Kelso three weeks ago. And the payoff for Nick Alexander’s sixyear-old can come in the opening race today, with a slight step up in trip since last time.

He was staying on tellingly into third, having been hampered earlier in the run, and the extended two miles today should be ideal. In the handicap hurdle, at the same trip, Animore will appreciate the drier conditions and is only 1lb higher than her last winning mark. That was on good ground at Bangor last July, when she was a length too good for Floral Bouquet in a race that has worked out well. The third and fourth – Cotton End and Absolute Jaffa – have both won twice, and the fifth home, Fool To Cry, has won once. Oliver Greenall’s Kimberley enjoyed a massive upturn in fortunes, with the change to drier ground when second at Uttoxeter three weeks ago.

The mare’s hurdle, over two miles at Warwick, offers a chance for a first victory – after 10 tries – following a spell on bottomless ground.
