Pretend 2020 never happened! Knock a year or more off your skin

- As told to Alice Hinds

It may have been a year since we last socialised with family and friends but we certainly don’t want to look like we’ve aged a single day when we emerge from lockdown. Here, Grace Fodor, founder of cosmetics brand Studio10, outlines her four-step make-up routine to look and feel younger – without a single needle or doctor’s trip in sight.

In your prime

As we age, our skin tends to lose its luminosity and can easily become dry which highlights lines and wrinkles. The first line of defence, Grace says, is using a good primer. She explained: “To combat dry, lacklustre and more textured skin, it’s important to always prime and create an even base for your make-up. A good primer will not only smooth your complexion, but will also give your skin a radiance that may have diminished with age.

“Our Youth Lift Glow-plexion (£26) preps the skin by smoothing out any uneven texture, and adds a lit-from-within radiance, making it the perfect base for make-up and long lasting wear.”

Picture perfect

Over the years, imperfections can mark the skin and it can be difficult to achieve a “flawless” finish. So next, Grace advises using the right concealer to perfect any blemishes which may be affecting your confidence.

“Our skin goes through a lot, from discolouration and pigmentation to darker circles and redness,” said Grace.

“As a result, we have more to cover up to achieve a flawless complexion. that’s why we created our Age Repair Perfect Canvas Foundation (£34). It works to correct and conceal any redness, blemishes and skin imperfections to create flawless, perfected skin.”

Shape up

Grace said: “my next step is like Spanx for the face.

“Our skin loses collagen and natural elasticity as we get older, so adding shape and definition enhances features and can help to create a natural looking lift.

“As we age our eyebrows tend to become more sparse, so I recommend filling in the brows to frame the face, using short hair-like strokes in an upward motion.

“Then, in order to create balance, line the lips to make them appear fuller. Use a darker shade along the lip line, and a light shade to highlight the Cupid’s bow.”

Get ready to blush

Finally, Grace says to complete the look with a pretty cheek shade: “Cream blush is the easiest way to add colour. “Peach tones with orange pigments will add warmth to the skin, while pink tones will brighten your complexion, adding a healthy flush of colour.”
