Cold weather is the most likely cause. Close to the glass, temperatur­es can drop very low so move your seedlings off the windowsill­s at night.

Cut off pieces of root, trim to 3cm sections, lay these flat in a seed tray and cover with compost. Water and keep under cover until shoots start to appear.
