Threat to mosslands
Motorcyclists are threatening a project to improve the condition of a rare moss habitat in one of Scotland’s National Nature Reserves.
Naturescot said the scheme to improve rare moss heath on Ben Wyvis in Ross-shire was producing promising results, but warned it was threatened by “illegal disturbance”.
Motorcycles are not permitted in the NNR as they can damage fragile habitats and disturb wildlife including ground-nesting birds.
