Commuter a role model at 99

What an incredible story last week about 99-year-old David Flucker, who spends three hours every day travelling to and from the Edinburgh charity shop where he is a volunteer.

He is obviously very fit and wants to give something back to society. But this job also gives him a sense of belonging and purpose. It’s important that we find ways to encourage older people to continue to play a role in society – assuming they want to. It’s not about age. It’s about energy.
