Diana would want her boys to heal their rift

-

Princes William and Harry will reunite this week for the unveiling of a statue of their mother, Princess Diana, on what would have been her 60th birthday.

There has always been so much interest in and love for Princess Diana globally and such a landmark day makes you realise how much she has missed over the years.

The boys were young when she died and it must have been an incredibly difficult period for them. They missed her at a graduation, at their passing out from the military, their weddings and births of their children.

We all know how maternal Diana was and can imagine how much she would have loved being a grandmother. But the saddest thing is the rift between William and Harry. I suspect that if she were alive today that may not have happened, but we can never know.

What is more certain is that her experience of marrying into the royal family at a young age would have been of enormous value to her daughters-in-law as they embarked on their lives within the royal household. Diana was one of the most photographed women in the world and she would have been the most glamorous grandma. It’s been nearly 24 years since she died.

We have seen a continued interest in her life in the last few weeks leading up to what would have been her 60th birthday.

The unveiling of the statue at Kensington Palace on Thursday will, hopefully, bring the boys together again. I am sure that would be what she would wish for more than anything.
