Couple floored by carpet woes now walking on air

John and Jean Grant are celebrating after Raw Deal helped them replace a carpet that had already been returned due to shading.

The couple, from Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, bought new flooring from Carpetright.

“Our first carpet developed shading,” said John. “The manager agreed to replace it. So we picked a different carpet and paid an extra £301 for the deluxe version.” John said that within a fortnight the same problem occurred and the store manager arranged for an independent inspection.

“This company said it was carpet pile reversal,” said John. “Carpetright then said they would only reconsider if we got our own independent inspection, but we couldn’t afford to pay £200 for this.”

The couple appealed to Raw Deal. We contacted Carpetright, and the issue was soon resolved.

Carpetright said: “Our store manager is going to offer a replacement at no additional cost and will also advise on options less prone to pile reversal.”
