More than a third of us in the UK correct mispronunciation, but does it bother you?
The only time I remember correcting anybody’s mispronunciation was when my mother said “fackade” for “facade”. I had just started French at school. She wasn’t pleased.

Personally I think it is bad manners to correct, it is better to try and include the word later in the conversation. You have made your point without offending.

We all mispronounce words at times. My old mum called a big strong large lady an Amazon once but pronounced it “amazing”. Which was kind of apt!

Only on my surname. For some reason they take my surname as a Christian name or add a Mac, Mc or O at the front. The Clan Donald is one of the senior clans in Scotland.

I would never correct anyone, but my husband can’t say chassis. He calls it a car subframe.

The word specific is often pronounced as Pacific… Verity Tynan
