Great Dane and great Scott nullify Nairn

-

NAIRN 0 DEVERONVALE 2

Two first-half goals gave Deveronvale full points at Nairn.

The visitors opened the scoring in seven minutes when Glenn Main was caught in possession and Dane Ballard raced through to slot the ball past Will Counsell.

Vale keeper denied Kenny Mckenzie an equaliser when he got a hand to his rasping volley.

Robert Scott beat Counsell to a high ball, but his header rolled just wide of the upright.

Vale doubled their lead just before the break when Scott blasted home from distance. Sam Robertson should have made it 3-0 seconds later, but sliced wide when well placed.

After the break, Ballard fired a 25-yard drive inches over, while Liam Shewan and Seamus Mcconaghy went close for Nairn.

Scott almost stretched Vale’s lead in 57 minutes, but Cohen Ramsay got back in the nick of time to hook the ball off the line.

BRECHIN CITY 4 KEITH 0

Brechin got off to the perfect start when Kieran Inglis grabbed the opening goal after just seven minutes when he slotted home a Marc Scott cross.

Despite, dominating for the rest of the half, they were unable to add to their tally.

City continued to dominate after the break and they doubled their lead 11 minutes into the half when Rory Currie deftly turned a defender before firing home a left-foot drive.

Sub David Cox was only minutes on the park before he headed a Jamie Bain cross into the net in the 78th minute, and the same two players combined again right at the death when Cox blasted home Bain’s cross.

TURRIFF UNITED 0 BUCKIE THISTLE 4

Max Barry beat David Dey with a wonderful strike to give Buckie a goal to give them a lead they probably deserved at the break.

Jack Murray, a big presence at the back for the Jags, showed his prowess at the other end to double the advantage just before the hour.

Sam Urquhart added a third from a penalty, before sub Adam Mcleod rounded off the scoring to keep Buckie Thistle in top spot on goal difference

CLACHNACUDDIN 2 HUNTLY 5

It took Huntly just 107 seconds to open the scoring as Angus Grant drove into the box to beat the keeper and knock home.

Grant then turned provider for Greg Buchan to net for the second game running.

Liam Taylor crossed for James Anderson to pull one back for Clach, but, just after the half-hour, Grant volleyed in his second.

Kyle Dalling headed home his first for Huntly to make it 4-1 at the break.

Anderson gave Clach hope with his second early in the second half, but it was extinguished by Caiden Imbert-thomas, brother of Aberdeen striker Jet, in the 75th minute.

LOSSIEMOUTH 2 INVERURIE LOCOS 2

Having hammered Nairn in midweek, Lossie upset the muchfancied Locos by claiming a point.

The visitors led when Neil Gauld ran in to slot a low shot past Logan Ross after 18 minutes. Brodie Allan’s turn and shot saw Lossie equalise, but Gauld netted a classy second from Kieran Shanks headflick.

Kieran Adams looked to have sealed the win, only for his goal to be ruled out.

The Coasters took advantage of that lifeline, with supersub Fraser Forbes grabbing a late leveller with virtually his first touch.

FORMARTINE UNITED 4 FORRES MECHANICS 1

In the first minute, Formartine’s Andrew Greig was fouled in the box and Jonathan Crawford converted the penalty.

On the half-hour, the lead was doubled by on-loan Aberdeen FC forward Kevin Hanratty, who cut in from the right and unleashed a great shot past Stuart Knight.

The Can Cans were back in the game five minutes later when Ross Macpherson thumped home a 25-yarder.

Andrew Greig beat two players then curled in an impressive

third, then another Dons loanee, Tyler Mykyta, curled in a free-kick to complete a game of great goals.

FORT WILLIAM 0 FRASERBURGH 4

Fort made a more than 300-mile round trip to Bellslea to fulfil this home fixture.

Fraserburgh took the lead in the 19th minute with Gary Harris tapping home from Ryan Sargent’s cross. Scott Barbour made it two from a Harris cross.

Barbour was brought down by Josh Wallace on the hour, and Harris hammered home the penalty, before completing his hat-trick with a finish into the postage-stamp corner.

STRATHSPEY 3 WICK 3

Gordon Macnab got the Scorries in front halfway through the first period, but Craig Mackenzie restored the parity four minutes before the turnaround. Early in the second half, Jake Thomson was able to force the home side in front.

Macnab’s header slipped just past the post, but Mark Macadie squared the game, only for Kieran Chalmers to swiftly put Strath back ahead.

With just three minutes to go, Wick ensured both teams moved on to two points as the ball found the net via unfortunate Jag Liam Mcdade.
