Champs Brora hit for six by brilliant Broch

-

FRASERBURGH 6 BRORA 2

A stunning second-half display saw the Broch defeat title holders Brora in style.

The Cattachs were two ahead early on thanks to a Dale Gillespie 30-yarder and a Jordan Macrae strike from the edge of the box.

Paul Young and Paul Campbell cancelled out that lead with two goals in four minutes halfway through the first half.

Sean Butcher chested the ball over the line from a Broch corner and they never looked back.

Jamie Beagrie headed home from another corner before Josh Meekings headed a Scott Barbour delivery into his own net.

Garry Harris set up Barbour for a sixth from close range to put the icing on the cake.

DEVERONVALE 1 BRECHIN CITY 4

Brechin claimed the points in their first Highland League encounter with Vale.

Gary Wood netted after just two minutes before adding a second with a diving header on the quarter-hour mark.

Gregor Jordan scored the visitors’ third with another header 10 minutes from the break.

Vale were a different team in the second period and Dane Ballard netted a 70th-minute penalty.

Evan Galasso made it four for Brechin with a close-range finish in time-added.

HUNTLY 2 LOSSIEMOUTH 1

Ryan Stuart opened the scoring for Lossie in the 26th minute with a low shot into the bottom corner.

However, the Black and Golds struck back seven minutes later when Glen Murison rose to meet an Angus Grant corner.

The game looked destined to end all-square until an injury-time solo goal by Gavin Elphinstone, who weaved his way into the box and added a finish worthy of winning the three points.

BUCKIE TH 10 KEITH 0

It was one-way traffic from the first whistle with table-toppers Buckie rattling in seven goals in the first half. The pick of them saw Andy Macaskill smash the ball into the top corner after a wonderful interchange of passes.

Sam Morrison, Kevin Fraser, Adam Mcleod (2) and Sam Urquhart (2) also scored.

Keith were able to slow things down in the second half, but Buckie still hit the woodwork three times before Sam Pugh, Callum Murray and Urquhart pushed the score into double figures. Kian Mccredie and Tom Andrews were sent off in the second half.

ROTHES 2 NAIRN COUNTY 2

Both teams had opportunities early on, but it was Nairn who made the breakthrough on the half-hour mark with Conor Gethins finishing with typical composure.

Rothes turned the game around either side of the break.

Jack Brown netted in first-half stoppage-time, then, two minutes into the second half, Greig Morrison put Ross Jack’s men ahead.

Having seen one penalty claim waived away, the Wee County were awarded a spot-kick when Max Ewan was felled and Gethins netted from 12 yards to ensure a share of the spoils.

FORMARTINE UNITED 3 FORT WILLIAM 0

Fort William started solidly and were frustrating their hosts as half-time approached.

Having struck the bar six minutes before the break, Formartine grabbed two goals in two minutes to sweeten their halftime cuppa.

Kevin Hanratty notched the opener before Jonathan Smith fired home a second from a free-kick.

United added just one more after the break, Andrew Greig curling home the third with 12 minutes to go.

FORRES 4 STRATHSPEY 2

Kieran Chalmers put the Jags in front after just six minutes, but Lee Fraser and Moray Taylor combined well for the former to score with a diving header.

Kris Duncan closed down Stuart Knight and was rewarded with an open goal soon after the half-time break.

The game turned halfway through the second period when Owen Loveland fed Lee Fraser to fire the Can Cans level.

Taylor slotted Forres into the lead, then Robbie Duncanson sealed the points with a classy strike from long range.

INVERURIE 2 TURRIFF 1

Inverurie were ahead in seven minutes when Jamie Michie’s deep hanging cross into the box was powerfully headed home by ex-turriff forward Robert Ward.

Kieran Shanks saw an effort come off the crossbar before a screamer from centre-back Mark Souter, who, from inside his own half, beat Tim Findlay with a powerfully-flighted strike.

Findlay made a series of saves as Locos went close on numerous occasions and Turra grabbed a consolation in the last minute with right-foot drilled effort by Kyle Gordon.

WICK ACADEMY 2 CLACHNACUDDIN 2

Shaun Sutherland fired the Lilywhites in front from 10 yards after just four minutes.

Wick’s Gordon Mcnab then missed a penalty on 27 minutes.

Home player-manager Gary Mason levelled from another penalty award on 65 minutes.

They went in front when Davie Allan cut in from the edge of the box to net from eight yards 10 minutes later.

It was then 2-2 on 88 minutes when James Anderson won the ball out wide and advanced to slot the ball under the keeper.
