Strike a wrong note

It was with disbelief I read union leader Gary Smith lamenting we no longer have big-thinking politicians. Does he totally disregard the actions of the trade unions in the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s that caused heavy industry and manufacturing to disappear from this country forever? Their multiple strikes left huge orders unfulfilled and allowed the rest of the world to catch up and they did.
