PM’S £400m boiler plan

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is planning a £400 million boiler scrappage scheme and offering £7,000 grants to encourage homeowners to buy low carbon alternatives, it emerged yesterday.

Plans have been drafted to revamp an existing scheme for Clean Heat Grants which is being launched next April and would apply across the UK.

The scheme aims to finance the installation of nearly 60,000 heat pumps and bring the cost more into line with gas boilers.
