Celtic fans besiege pubs after defeat

-

“Dundee police made 51 arrests up to midnight last night, largely among Celtic supporters,” read The Post.

“No serious incidents were reported following Dundee United’s 2-l win at Tannadice, where the gates were closed with 25,000 in the ground and many others locked out.

“Apart from drunks, arrests were made for breach of the peace and assault. Over 3,000 Celtic fans reached Dundee by bus. Some went straight back after the match, but the majority besieged restaurants, cafes, chip shops and pubs. Nearly 60 buses were parked nose-to-tail in Riverside Drive. Most were still there after 10pm.

“Dozens of buses lined the streets around the ground and jostled for space with cars. Extra police were on crowd control duty, with senior officers, both uniformed and plain clothes, keeping an eye on things.”
