It’s time to bask in the heat and give your skin a sun-kissed glow

- By Tracey Bryce

Thanks to Scotland’s unseasonably warm July, most of us have managed to cultivate a sunkissed glow. But as the summer weather begins to fade how do you keep that beachy, peachy look?

Make-up artist Niamh Mcaleenan says you can cheat your way to healthy looking summer skin – the trick is to keep it light and bright.

“Nothing screams ‘summer skin’ more than the dewy sunkissed glow,” Niamh said.

“Who wouldn’t want glowing, healthy-looking skin all year round? For that reason the dewy skin beauty trend will never get old.

“The dream would be to have that natural glow, however, most of us achieve a radiant look by grafting away on a consistent skincare routine with considerable assistance from our make-up bag.”

But there is a way to achieve the glow with minimal effort.

The prep step

“Skincare prep is the key and the most important step for glowing skin,” Niamh says.

She recommends a double cleanse, which will give the skin a fresh, clean base to work with.then toning and moisturising with a hydrating toner, which will guarantee a brighter and balanced complexion, before exfoliating.

Glow for it

After the prep, it’s time to begin the bronzing process.

“Start with a spritz of tanning face mist for an extra boost of sun,” Niamh says.“whether your skin is dry, oily or combination, a primer is the perfect way to make sure your make-up lasts all day in all conditions.

“Next, apply concealer under your eyes, in the middle of your forehead, and down the bridge of your nose. This will help brighten your complexion while concealing any skin concerns.

“Then it’s the all-important bronzing liquid to amplify the higher points of the cheekbones, temples, edges of the forehead, both sides of the nose and bridge, jawline and chin area. For the ultimate sun-kissed glow – pat in a cream or liquid blush across the cheeks and bridge of the nose.

“Dot some faux freckles

using a brow or lip pencil in various shades of brown on the nose, cheeks and forehead and pat them down after.

“Highlight on the top of your cheekbones and down the bridge of your nose. If you want a little extra glow, pop some into the corner of your eyes, and right above your upper lip on your cupid’s bow.”

Flawless finish

To finish off your flawless face, dot some translucent powder in the oil T-zone areas for a long-lasting immaculate finish. Finally, stick on some peachy or clear lip gloss and you’re summer ready!
