Catastrophic: Wildfires in Siberia
Siberian wildfires have produced more CO2 gas in the last 10 weeks than the whole of Germany does in a year.
Scientists warn since June, the wildfires have produced 800 megatons of carbon dioxide, according to the European Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service. (CAMS). CAMS chief scientist Mark
Parrington said soot from the wildfires will reach the Arctic Circle, reducing reflectiveness and increasing the absorption of solar energy, speeding the melting process.
