Paralympics? A real winner
The Paralympics is due to start this week and I’m so excited to watch it.
London 2012 catapulted disability sport into our consciousness and both the coverage and fan engagement were incredible. It really showcased the Paralympics to the British public – and they have gone from strength to strength since.
It’s very easy to talk about disadvantages and restrictions in terms of what you can’t do but what the Paralympic athletes show is what they can do, overcoming adversity, finding a way and demonstrating inclusivity within sport. There really is something for everyone now – and long may that continue.
The Hebridean isle of Canna has announced it wants to double its population by building new homes to encourage people to go and live there. I absolutely love the idea of island life but, in all honesty, it’s not for me. As much as I find the sea incredibly calming and therapeutic, I can never sit still! I’d love the scenery and the peace and tranquillity, but I think the novelty would wear off for me pretty quickly. Plus, I’m not sure Canna has a wine bar or a tennis court!
