Kate’s story is a lesson for all

Watching the Kate Garraway documentary about her husband Derek’s Covid battle brought a tear to my eye.

I’ve met Kate quite a few times and was actually on GMB with her last week. She’s an amazing woman and hers is a remarkable story of how love can carry you through the most difficult times in your life.

The impact on her family has been huge. She has had to support her two children on her own and become the sole breadwinner, not knowing whether her husband will pull through – or whether life will ever be the same again. Kate has helped us understand the impact Covid has, not just on those affected, but on their friends and relatives too. Sharing your experiences is often the best way to educate people and I learned a lot from hearing her story.
