Vicar’s brolly good idea
“Brolly For Brides,” read the headline above the unusual but brief story that made it on to The Sunday Post front page in August 1958.
“Rev William Wright, of Wardlawhill Church, wants a large golfer’s umbrella to keep brides dry as they go in and out of the church. Why had he never thought of it before – he’s been minister for 34 years? His reply was: ‘The summer has never been so wet.’”
