It was the bravest thing I’d heard in a long time. And it left me wondering how I used my freedom.

Allan can’t get in or out of his motorised chair without a hoist, he can’t go anywhere without a driver, if you have a house that isn’t “wheel-chair friendly” he simply can’t visit you.

His tablet is his window on the world and he can write with it. So, write he does.

To several people serving long sentences in jail. He has built good relationsh­ips there and often finds ways to comfort and help his pen-friends.

“But why a prison ministry,” I asked him.

“Because I know what it’s like to be locked in,” he replied.

There are always things we can’t do, and for some the list is longer than for others.

But the best we can each of us do, is, always, to make the best of what we can do!
