Ian hits winner as rovers miss from the spot

-

ANNAN ATHLETIC moved into second spot in the table thanks to Iain Anderson’s first-half strike against hosts ALBION ROVERS.

Anderson put Annan in front in first-half injury-time when he beat Cammy Binnie with a right-foot shot from Aidan Smith’s pass.

Albion wasted a great chance to equalise when Callum Wilson was fouled in the area by goalkeeper Greg Fleming, but Declan Byrne blasted the penalty high and wide.

A 54th-minute goal was all that separated KELTY HEARTS and EDINBURGH CITY, but it was enough to see the Fife side go a point clear at the top.

They dominated the first half, but had nothing to show at the turn.

The Maroon Machine’s pressure told when Jamie Barjonas drove the ball high into the top corner of the City net.

It was a game of two halves at Borough Briggs, with ELGIN and FORFAR sharing the spoils.

Visitors Forfar dominated the first half, with Stefan Mccluskey opening the scoring on 20 minutes with a deflected 20-yarder.

Within 90 seconds of the second half, top scorer Kane Hester set up Conor O’keefe in the box and a low effort found the far corner of the net to square things.

STRANRAER went down 3-0 at home to STIRLING ALBION.

The deadlock was broken six minutes before the break, Dylan Mackin blasting a shot across goal, beating keeper Curtis Lyle.

Two minutes later, Stirling doubled their advantage when Ray Grant brought the ball down on his chest before drilling a low shot in off the base of the left post.

No. 3 came on 66 minutes when Ross Mcgeachie found room in the six-yard box and nodded home Nathan Flanagan’s free-kick.

STENHOUSEMUIR drew 1-1 with visiting COWDENBEATH.

Darren Christie put the Warriors ahead on 67 minutes when he latched on to a Adam Corbett cross.

The Blue Brazil drew level eight minutes later when Kris Renton towered above everyone to head a Ross Pollock cross home.

With the game into stoppage time, Ross Clarke was sent off for his second caution.
