Airline rethinks rebook charge

-

The Mcgeechan family is on cloud nine after Raw Deal helped them rebook a holiday that had twice been cancelled.

The family, from Edinburgh, had booked flights in October 2019 with Ryanair for a party of six to travel to Lanzarote last year, at a cost of £2,045.

The trip was firstly cancelled due to Covid, then a second date had to be abandoned when one of the party took ill.

“When the pandemic hit and we knew we couldn’t go in 2020 we were given two options, the first being lose all the money, or pay a further £780 to reschedule for 2021,” the family said.

The Mcgeechans decided to pay the additional charges but had to cancel the rescheduled trip again when one of their party suffered health issues.

They said they were dismayed when this time Ryanair said nothing further could be done.

In frustration, the family contacted Raw Deal.

When we pointed out the situation to Ryanair, the airline relented and soon offered them new dates at no extra cost.

Ryanair said: “Our flights are non-refundable.

“However, If Ms Mcgeechan wishes to move their flights again, she can contact our customer service department and as she already moved her flights once, the change fee will be waived this time.”

The Mcgeechans said they have accepted the offer and are rebooking for next summer, adding: “We can not thank Raw Deal enough.

“This is much better than losing nearly three grand.

“Here’s hoping Covid isn’t still lurking around next year spoiling holidays for everyone.”
