Slowly does it... there’s no rush to show kindness

-

We were in a queue at traffic lights. The green light came on and the car and bus in front of Hugh’s car drove on.

He moved forward, then stopped. An older woman, with a baby in a pram and a child holding her hand, had got off the bus and were waiting there. Hugh waved for them to cross, and they did. He started driving again.

And the lights changed to red! Not content to wait, the car behind him swerved, honked his horn and sped up the road between the lights before the oncoming traffic could come along it. Highly dangerous!

“I’m glad I’m not in such a rush,” my friend told me.

“You think he’s late for something?” I asked. “Maybe,” Hugh answered. “Who knows? But mostly I’m just glad I’m not in such a rush that I can’t slow down long enough to be kind”
