The preliminar­y round of the Scottish Cup got under way and LINLITHGOW ROSE fell at the first hurdle, losing 2-1 to BANKS O’ DEE. The north side took the lead through Jack Henderson but Rose hit back through Thomas Halleran. Mark Gilmour scored the winner from a second-half penalty.

DUNBAR UNITED are also through after their 3-1 victory over BROXBURN. Andy Jones gave Dunbar the lead but Broxburn levelled through Liam Ireland. Jamie Devlin’s double in the second half won the day for the hosts.

PENICUIK had to come from behind to beat DUNDONALD 3-1. Ross Drummond gave the Bluebells the lead but Chris Finnie equalised two minutes later. Cuikie then took the lead through Nicky Reid in 36 minutes and he added a third in stoppage time.

MUSSELBURG­H took the lead at IRVINE MEADOW through Jono Mcmanus but the Ayrshire side came back with two second-half goals to knock the Lothian side out.

BLACKBURN UNITED are through after a 2-1 win over EASTHOUSE LILY. Callum Heath gave Blackburn the lead and though the visitors levelled, a Campbell goal for the home side proved to be the winner.

HILL OF BEATH had an eventful day at SAUCHIE where the Haws not only lost 4-2 in the league but finished the match with nine men after two red cards. Sauchie dominated the first period with Brian Ritchie netting two and Scott Davidson adding a third. The Haws responded in the second half with goals from Paul Quinn and Callum Adamson but they went down to 10 men and Davidson added Sauchie’s fourth before the Haws picked up another red.

TRANENT are back at the top of the league equal on points with Penicuik after a 1-0 win at home to NEWTONGRAN­GE. The winner was an own goal.

CROSSGATES PRIMROSE were the masters at KINNOULL as they strolled to a 4-0 win in the Alex Jack Cup. Brian Ritchie gave the visitors a half-time lead and he added another after the break along with goals from Stewart Mcdonald and James Mcateer.
