Doig work for £4.5m
An oil painting of houses by the Scottish artist Peter Doig is expected to fetch up to £4.5 million at auction next month.
Edinburgh-born Doig, 62, painted Hill Houses (Green Version) in 1991, three years before he was nominated for the Turner Prize.
Described as “a rare early exploration of the artist’s celebrated cabin motif”, the painting depicts a house in a green hillside forest landscape.
It will feature in Christie’s 20th/21st Century: Evening Sale on October 15.
