It now looks like Vienna or bust for Scotland
Shot-shy show, and Israel win, are big concerns for Clarke
Scotland got their stuttering World Cup qualifying bid back on track against Moldova last night.
Lyndon Dykes’ early opener proved to be the sum of their toils on a night of frustration for the returning Tartan Army, numbering almost 41,000.
Despite a host of chances, a muchchanged side couldn’t add to the QPR man’s strike.
Tuesday night’s opponents, Austria, lost 5-2 in Israel, so the match in Vienna now takes on added importance for Steve Clarke (right) and his men.
Midfielder Billy Gilmour said:
“I could have scored myself, and we could have had more altogether.
“We definitely have to be more clinical, and Vienna is a must-win game.”
