Fever Pitch: The Rise of the Premier League

In August 2020, when football fans were gearing up for a new season, despite knowing they wouldn’t be able to see their favourite team play live, the BBC announced it was making a four-part documentary series about the rise and rise of the Premier League.

It almost seemed cruel. However, the resulting programme is only just about to air, and the timing now seems perfect, seeing as fans across the country are back in stadia everywhere.

Players (including David Beckham and Eric Cantona), agents, journalists and business experts discuss how the formation of the Premier League transformed the English game, as well as how it’s managed to hold the attention of supporters across the globe ever since.
