No rising star, Emma is a star
It was only a couple of months ago that Emma Raducanu was sitting her A Levels and just a few weeks after that she was blasting her way through three rounds at Wimbledon. The 18-year-old struggled with her breathing during her fourth-round match against Australian Ajla Tomljanovic and was forced to withdraw. She later revealed the experience of the crowd, the noise and the expectation was all just too much. She clearly learned from that experience and this week in New York became the first British woman to reach a grand slam final for 44 years.
Her tennis has been fearless, her attitude exemplary and her personality a delight. She is no longer a rising star. She is already a star and on track to become one of the sport’s superstars.
