Ayrshire Bulls go on rampage against Stirling

-

Ayrshire Bulls recorded a thumping 48-17 win over Stirling County at Millbrae yesterday to go second in the Super6 table.

The home side scored seven tries in their most impressive display of the season so far, and are now just a couple of points behind leaders Watsonians, who lost 20-21 to Edinburgh rivals Heriot’s on Friday night.

The Bulls never looked back after scoring in the second minute.

They had a comfortable 19-3 lead at half-time, and wrapped up the try bonus point with half

an hour to spare.

Round six of the tournament concludes today when a victory for the Southern Knights over Boroughmuir Bulls will take them to the top of the league.

In the Premiership, Currie Chieftains bounced back from an opening-day defeat by Hawick to record a 38-12 win over Marr.

Currie and the Ayrshire team are among the favourites to win the league this season, and a close match was expected when they met at Malleny Park. But the home team had other ideas, putting in an outstanding performance to overwhelm their visitors.

Hawick themselves went down to a narrow defeat, losing 31-30 to GHA. The losing bonus helped the Borderers to stay second in the table, behind the Chieftains only on points difference.

There was a more comfortable victory for another Glasgow team, as Hawks beat Aberdeen Grammar 28-8. Selkirk defeated Musselburgh 32-21, but the biggest score of the day was at Raeburn Place, where Edinburgh Accies defeated Jed-forest 45-19.
