BRECHIN CITY recorded a comfortabl­e 5-0 win over Lowland League side VALE OF LEITHEN at Glebe Park.

Marc Scott netted early on when he drilled home a low drive, and Kieran Inglis added a second goal soon after with an almost identical move. Julian Wade made it 3-0 after 27 minutes, with David Cox adding a fourth on the stroke of half-time. On 75 minutes, Scott notched his second with a right-foot drive into the bottom corner of the net.

ROTHES beat hosts BLACKBURN UNITED 2-1. United went ahead against their Highland rivals with an Andy Mcquillan goal after 16 minutes, but Fraser Robertson brought Rothes back into the game with a 62nd-minute goal and Lewis Hyde hit a late winner.

BROOMHILL banged in six without replay against GLASGOW UNI, who haven’t won a Scottish Cup tie for 10 years. Broomhill were two up at the interval through a Jordan Duncan header and a Scott Cusick strike. Ross Kavanagh, in the 62nd minute, made it 3-0, with Cusick, Kavanagh and Finlay adding three more for a 6-0 win.

STIRLING UNI had to defend for much of the second half, but they held out for a 1-0 win over CALEDONIAN BRAVES. Stirling took the lead in the 25th minute when Ben Davidson set up Cal Rae, who had an easy finish. The Braves fought back after the interval and Cameron Broadner hit the post on 65 minutes, but they just could find the equaliser.

CLYDEBANK thrashed DALKEITH THISTLE 7-0 in their first-ever meeting and banged in three first-half goals to set them on the victory trail with Hamish Mckinlay, Joe Slattery and Craig Holmes finding the net. They never let up and Mckinlay, Holmes, Ross Mcpherson and Kevin Green goals saw their fans in seventh heaven.

EAST KILBRIDE hit double

figures as they thrashed COLDSTREAM 10-1. Neil Mclaughlin hit a first-half hat-trick, two from the penalty spot, and Joao Victoria went one better with four. Chris Erskine, Aiden Mcdonald and Jack Stainrod completed the rout, with Kieran Lee getting a consolatio­n goal.

DUNBAR UNITED, making their Scottish Cup debut, had a hard-earned 2-0 win over CAMELON. Andy Jones gave them the lead in the 38th minute with a neat shot, and Johnny Edmond got the second before the interval.

AUCHINLECK TALBOT beat old rivals IRVINE MEADOW 3-1 to reach the second round for the fourth time. Medda went ahead after 16 minutes from a penalty, with Mark Mclennan firing home from the spot. Talbot staged a great second-half fightback and Gareth Armstrong drilled in a shot in the 59th minute. Mark Shankland produced a tremendous shot to put them ahead in the 73rd minute and, soon after, Keir Samson hit No. 3.

DALBEATTIE STAR got a shock after losing an early goal to NEWTONGRAN­GE STAR in the 12th minute when the home side’s new boy Chris Robertson found Liam Mcintosh, who chipped the advancing keeper. But a second half header from Dylan Cairnie gave the Lowland League side a 1-1 draw and a home replay at Islecroft Stadium next week.

PENICUIK ATHLETIC went ahead after 24 minutes when Andy Forbes headed in a freekick from Andy Baptise, but TRANENT fought back and won 3-1. Stevenson equalised from a penalty on half-time after Sean Wringe was brought down, and, in the second half, Jamie Docherty and Ben Miller sealed the win.

BRORA RANGERS went ahead with a 16th-minute header against hosts TYNECASTLE from Jordan Macrae and went on to win 6-0. After Tynecastle missed a penalty, other goals came as Macrae completed his hat-trick, Matthew Wright hit a double and Dale Gillespie converted a penalty.

Aiden Meehan and Ross Hunter were the hat-trick heroes for ST CUTHBERT WANDERERS as they beat WIGTOWN 8-0. Dale Milligan (pen) and Cameron Taylor also netted, while Wigtown were reduced to 10 men on the hour when Ballantyne was sent off.

GALA FAIRYDEAN ROVERS pulled off a shock 1-0 win over SPARTANS. The Fairies produced the winner deep in stoppage time when Daryl Healy scored.
