COWDENBEATH 1 FORFAR ATHLETIC 1

Cowden were first to go forward early on and a Quinn Coulson cross was head-flicked by Kris Renton, but the ball landed on top of the Loons’ net.

In 10 minutes, a Fraser Mullen freekick was headed inches over the bar by the home side’s Jamie Todd.

On 18 minutes, a corner from Forfar’s Jamie Ness posed problems for the home side and Todd sliced over his own bar.

Five minutes on, Forfar went ahead. Luke Strachan’s cross was met by Matt Aitken at the far post and his close-in header gave Cammy Gill no chance.

Cowdenbeath went close just after the break when Craig Thomson’s 25-yard free-kick flew inches wide, then a Mullen free-kick was met by home skipper Craig Barr and his powerful header was held by Mark Mccallum.

With 13 minutes to go, Forfar sub Mark Gallagher burst through the home defence, but Gill saved.

The Blue Brazil levelled on 82 minutes as Thomson’s 22-yard free-kick flew over Mccallum into the top right hand corner.

ELGIN CITY 0 ANNAN ATHLETIC 2

Annan got a great start when Owen Moxon curled home a fine free-kick from 25 yards on three minutes.

Archie Macphee fired Elgin’s best firsthalf chance over from 10 yards, with Aidan Smith and Moxon also going close for the visitors.

Elgin introduced top scorer Kane Hester to the action at the break, the striker initially ruled out through injury, but passed fit to play part of the game after treatment.

He was denied by a Greg Fleming save early in the second half, but never looked comfortable and ended up being replaced before the end.

Macphee passed up another good opening for City from Dundee United loan defender Nathan Cooney’s cross with 15 minutes left.

Annan hit on the break for a second goal by centre-back Matty Douglas, hooking home after a Moxon free-kick was nodded down for him.

Elgin’s misery was completed when keeper Daniel Hoban rushed out and fouled Aidan Smith and was sent off by the referee.
