The noughties were an incredibly strange time.

Any worries about the Y2K bug destroying society as we knew it faded on January 1 2000 and a decade of prosperity beckoned.

Unfortunately after that there was 9/11, a subsequent War On Terror, and the financial crisis of 2008 which all left aftershocks which we’re still feeling.

But aside from the painful events of the decade the noughties were also a time of culture, entertainment and fashion; especially the latter.

The second series of In Vogue looks at the storied decade through the lens of the celebrated culture mag, vogue.

If you missed the first series it looked at the ’90s but this new season explores things such as Sex And The City, Giselle Bundchen and those tracksuit bottoms with “juicy” written on the bum.

In Vogue explores how, from 2000 to 2010, fashion fused with every aspect of pop culture to become a global entertainment engine the like of which we’d never seen.

Nicholas Ghesquière awakening the sleeping fashion house of Balenciaga, to Vogue putting the couture into Juicy Couture, and discussing Carrie Bradshaw’s influence on trendy 2000s fashion with Sarah Jessica Parker, the podcast covers the iconic looks that so defined the decade.

The terror attacks on New York 20 years ago led to the creation of the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund and ushered in the next generation of designers; that’s right, even the jeans you’re wearing are a product of 9/11.

There’s also the story of the origin of the Met Gala, which is known as the Super Bowl of fashion.

Given its size perhaps the Super Bowl should be known as the Met Gala of the sporting world?
