Sheep shot by arrow

A police investigation is under way after a sheep was found with fatal head injuries on a farm.

Officers believe the animal was shot with a crossbow and arrow before being discovered in a field on the outskirts of Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway, on Friday.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on the four-year-old ewe to determine how she came to be injured.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
