After the drought, now rain
Nature is set to deliver an
antidote to Scotland’s bone-dry countryside – there’s rain in the forecast every day for the next two weeks.
The country is going through the driest spell it has experienced in almost 20 years.
Reservoir levels for drinking water have dipped to 57%, the lowest since 2003. And the Scottish Environment Protection Agency has placed more areas of the country – including climate-change conference host city Glasgow – on a warning of moderate scarcity for water.
However, a change to Atlantic weather patterns from today means no part of Scotland will escape showers or heavier downpours, with only some sunnier spells, until October 9 at the earliest.
