It is tied on a size-12 Kamasan hook, using black thread. The tail is dyed-olive guinea fowl and the body is olive seals fur, ribbed with gold wire.

The wing is hen pheasant quills, cheeks are jungle cock and head hackle is dyed-olive guinea fowl.

You can watch Paul fish for wild browns and tie the catching flies on his popular Youtube channel, Paul Black Wild Fishing.

Johnstone’s Haddockston Trout Fishery fished its socks off, with the prolific hatches of Black Buzzers and Daddy Longlegs getting the fish feeding aggressively on the surface. Toptaking flies included the CDC, Suspender Buzzers, Half Hogs and Daddies, and included among the top catches was R. Jordan with an incredible 34.

IBM Freshwater AC kept 21 fish, weighing 42lb, and released a further four at Gleaneagles’ Frandy Fishery.

Also doing well was the Clydesdale Bank AC, who kept 21 fish for 40lb and released 12, Falkirk Fly Dressers kept 13 fish for 23lb, and Stanley AC kept 28 fish, weighing 44lb 8oz.

The Daddy Longlegs, Kate Mclaren, Black Pennell, Olive Hopper, Yellow Owl and Klinkhammer proved deadly.
