My colleague Patricia-ann reviewed The North Water last week by saying it was simply too gruesome.

Episode two of the gruelling Arctic drama kicked off with Jack O’connell’s laudanum addict surgeon investigating why the cabin boy looks so haunted. I’ll spare you the details, but put it this way: the bludgeoned seals had it easy in comparison.

Not exactly fun for all the family from a show which makes The Terror look like The Love Boat.
