Hollywood honour for Bond actor

-

Daniel Craig is to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The James Bond actor, 53, will be the latest 007 to be immortalised at the Los Angeles tourist attraction, with stars already in place for Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.

In a nod to Bond’s codename, Craig’s star will be placed at 7007 Hollywood Boulevard, next to Moore. It will be the 2,704th on the famous avenue and will be dedicated during a ceremony on Wednesday. No Time To Die, Craig’s last outing as Ian Fleming’s spy, will open in US cinemas the following day.

David Niven, who starred in 1967 spoof film Casino Royale, has also received a Boulevard star, as has Barry Nelson, who played Bond in a TV movie in 1954, making him the first actor to play 007.

Sir Sean Connery, the first official film Bond in 1963’s Dr No, and who played the secret agent in five more films, does not have a star. The Scot is one of a number of notable Walk of Fame absentees along with the likes of Al Pacino and Robert Redford.

Walk of Fame spokeswoman Ana Martinez said: “Daniel Craig is a British cultural icon, as is James Bond, the man he has portrayed in five 007 films, and we are thrilled to place his Walk of Fame star next to the star of another famed actor who also portrayed James Bond, Roger Moore.”
