Beeno can be dandy for Diane

- By Reg Moore sport@sundaypost.com

Diane Sayer runs three in the opening race at Kelso and, from a stable that’s not shy of a bet, the market may be the best guide.

Beeno may now be 12 years old, but his recent victory at Perth proves that he still has his enthusiasm, making all to beat Spark Of Madness.

He has won on soft, so the forecast overnight rain will not present a problem, and former champion, Brian Hughes, takes the ride.

Dan Skelton brings two all the way from Warwickshire, and Gym Tonic will be all the rage, for a yard now clicking into top gear.

But he’s yet to see a racecourse at five-yearsold, and there may be another day for him, now that Ann Hamilton is amongst the winners.

The way that Hello Judge raced clear at today’s track, from Present and counting, suggests he may be up to defying his winner’s penalty.

The staying hurdle is a match between Donald Mccain’s string and Lucinda Russell’s and, on the balance of form, Green Vault may be the one.

His point-to-point and bumper form has worked out well, and he gets weight from Mccain’s two runners, in a trappy-looking contest.
