Elton Jantjies scored a penalty at the death yesterday as South Africa beat New Zealand 31-29 in the final match of the Rugby Championship.

Damian de Allende and Makazole Mapimpi were the scorers as the Springboks ended a three-match losing run.

Earlier, an Andrew Kellaway hat-trick helped the Wallabies beat Argentina 32-17 to finish second behind the All Blacks, who secured the title last weekend.

It was Australia’s fourth successive win of the tournament.
