RANGERS B stay second after a 6-1 thumping of BERWICK RANGERS. They opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Robbie Fraser shot past the outstretch­ed home keeper Andrew Mcneil, and Leon King doubled the score with a neat header on 21 minutes. Berwick hit back two minutes later when Sean Stewart had only to tap the ball in past Jay Hogarth. On the half-hour, Rangers went 3-1 up when Alex Lowry hit a tremendous free-kick from 25 yards and, six minutes before the turn,

Ross Mccausland fired into the top corner of the net. Skipper Kyle Mcclelland’s header and Tony Weston completed the scoring.

Leaders BONNYRIGG ROSE continued their march at the top, but it was a narrow 2-1 win over DALBEATTIE STAR. They went ahead after 18 minutes when Lewis Turner finished off a three-man move.

Rose were dominating play and George Hunter shot over twice and Mcgachie also saw his header sail over the bar.

Star came out firing on all cylinders after the turn and, within a minute, they were level when Lewis Todd headed strongly into the net. But, in the 61st minute, Kerr Young restored Rose’s lead for what proved the winner.

EAST KILBRIDE slumped to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of EDINBURGH UNI, despite going ahead on 36 minutes with a Neil Mclaughlin goal. The Uni side levelled five minutes later through Ben Spelman and, after the turn, he put them ahead for the first time with a 57th-minute

penalty. Joao Victoria squared things on the hour, but, five minutes from time, sub Lewis Maurice hit the winner.

SPARTANS got a 4-1 win over GRETNA 2008 thanks to a Blair Henderson hat-trick. He got the opener on 26 minutes, but Josh Cooper equalised soon after. Then Henderson got his second from a penalty in the 55th minute and, soon after, Jamie Dishington slammed home the third. Henderson completed his hat-trick in 65 minutes when he headed in a Cammy Russell free-kick.

STIRLING UNI got a 6-3 win over struggling VALE OF LEITHEN. Calum Rae and Ben Davidson gave the Uni side a 2-0 half-time lead and then Conor Doan got a third early in the second half, before adding a fourth on 76 minutes. Mikey Stokes got one back for Vale on 76 minutes, but James Stokes made it 5-1 for the visitors in the 84th minute. An own goal made it 5-2 with three minutes left, but Jason Jarvis hit No. 6 before Mark Hayford headed in a third for Vale.

CALEDONIAN BRAVES got a 3-0 win over CUMBERNAUL­D, thanks to three second-half goals from Luke Main, Zac Butterwort­h and Cammy Broadener.

GALA FAIRYDEAN ROVERS defeated BROOMHILL 3-0. A minute into the second half, Zander Murray put them ahead, Marc Berry doubled the score on 70 minutes and Daryl Healy got No. 3 near the end.

BO’NESS UNITED beat CIVIL SERVICE STROLLERS 3-1, with Matty Flynn putting them on the victory trail when he swept home a cross on 30 minutes. Devon Jacobs smashed the ball home on 42 minutes after Kyle Wilson’s effort was blocked. A minute later, Strollers hit back with a goal from Joe Boyle, but, in the 67th minute, Nick Locke curled in a tremendous 20-yarder to make sure of the points.

On Friday night, a Dean Watson goal on the half-hour gave EAST STIRLINGSH­IRE a shock 1-0 win over CELTIC B. Both teams had chances early on, but it was Shire who got the vital breakthrou­gh for what proved to be the winner.
