Drone in near miss

-

A drone came so close to a plane over Glasgow that other flights had to be suspended, it has emerged.

The BE-200 was three nautical miles from landing at Glasgow Airport when, at 1100ft, the pilot saw a round metallic drone about a metre in diameter.

It was sighted level with the aircraft about 200 metres to the left of their track. Initially all aircraft movements were stopped before normal operations were resumed.

The incident happened on July 7.

Meanwhile, a reported light aircraft crash on Shetland on Tuesday turned out to be the wreckage of a military drone.
