Don’t fall for lofty cold-call claims

Householders have reported receiving cold calls from companies offering to carry out surveys of their loft insulation or telling them that their insulation needs to be replaced in line with Scottish Government advice.

Trading Standards Scotland warns that cold callers may try to sell you energy-saving measures that you don’t need: “If you are thinking about making your home more energy-efficient, seek impartial advice from trusted companies rather than cold callers or online adverts.

“Have an impartial assessment carried out to determine which energy-saving measures will actually benefit your home.”
